Devlog 16: Small Farm Vendors, Character Panels, and Map Expansion

Hello everyone, welcome to devlog 16 of Tales of Elondria, a single-player RPG where you can be anyone!

This week, to get some “inspiration,” I played some games. The popular ones nowadays were Last Epoch and Baldur’s Gate 3. Both were amazing games that got me hooked for many hours ngl. Anyway, let me share what I was busy with this week.

Small Farm

So first of all, the small farm vendor implementation was not finished from last week. I continued that, adding the right-click buy and sell functionality.

In addition to that, I added a new item, “Leg of Goat,” the first raw meat in the game. Now, every small farm will have special vegetables and meat that they sell, in addition to a few species of herbs and a tool. Every day, the items they sell will reset, but the items themselves won’t change, only the amount will change. Not all small farms will sell the same thing, so in order to get certain herbs, meat, or vegetables, the player will have to discover the farm that sells them.

Character Panel

After finishing the small farm vendor, I started implementing the “Character Panel,” where players can see their stats, health, and status such as hunger, thirst, weight, etc. According to its status, I added a color indication (green and red, as you can see from the screenshot as well).

Serenity Biome

Lastly, I made some adjustments for the caravan’s waypoint system, expanded the map, added another city, and another small farm next to that. I worked on the roads to that city and the farms. Additionally, I added another pond.

However, I’ll continue expanding the map this week. I’m planning to finish the elven part of Elondria. They have 1 big city and 3 small towns planned. I already have 2 small towns and 1 big city, so there’s only one small town left to be added this week.

So, thank you for reading about this week’s devlog. By the way, the game has 21 wishlists now on Steam, yay! 🙂 Just like the development, it’s going slow yet steady. See you next week!
